Washington, Nov 13 (EFE).-

United States President Joe Biden said Wednesday to relatives of the Americans kidnapped by Islamist militant group Hamas he would work with the future administration of the election winner Donald Trump to free the hostages.

“The Administration has worked tirelessly to get a deal done as soon as possible to bring the hostages home, and the President also assured the families those efforts will continue,” a White House press release read.

Biden met with the relatives the same day he held a meeting at the White House with President-Elect Trump, with a view to establishing a transition of command.

In the nearly two-hour meeting both held in the Oval Office, they discussed the issue of the hostages captured by Hamas and other Palestinian militias on Oct. 7, 2023 during an attack on Israel, according to White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

Sullivan met Tuesday at the White House with families of American hostages in Gaza, who have asked that both Biden and the Trump team work together to achieve the release of their loved ones. EFE
