American’s Chatbot almost recovered!

Dec 26 (EFE).-

American company OpenAI reported Thursday that its artificial intelligence chatbot had almost recovered after it was down at about 2pm local time.

“We are almost fully back online now, we appreciate your patience!” the company wrote in a message on its X account.

The company said at 9pm local time (2:00am GMT) on its website that the chatbot (an artificial intelligence conversation tool) “have been down for a couple of hours and we’re sorry for the trouble this is causing.”

OpenAI said its own service was experiencing a high percentage of errors that it was trying to solve, adding that it had identified the origin of the errors, which also affect Sora (a video generator through text), and that they were evaluating them.

According to OpenAI, the problem was caused by an external provider.

Throughout the afternoon, the company said the technical errors of Sora had already been solved, but at 10pm New York time, ChatGPT was still not working normally.

ChatGPT users started reporting problems with the service Thursday afternoon, according to reports sent to the Downdetector application.

When performing a search on ChatGPT from Spain, the tool did not respond to the query and reported that something was going wrong.

“If this problem persists, please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com,” the message added.

This is not the first time ChatGPT has suffered technical problems, and in recent months it has stopped working for hours on a couple of occasions.

The service became popular at the end of 2023 for the multiple functionalities it offers and for answering all kinds of questions.

ChatGPT has 300 million active users a week. One billion messages are sent through its platform every day, according to data from OpenAI. EFE
