Trump Demands Public Apology!

Washington, Jan 22 (EFE).-

United States President Donald Trump demanded a public apology Wednesday from a bishop who officiated a religious ceremony for his presidential inauguration for having asked him from the pulpit for mercy on children, immigrants and the LGBT+ community.

In a message posted on his Truth Social network, Trump – who returned Monday to the White House and signed dozens of executive orders to begin deporting illegal immigrants en masse – accused Episcopalian Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde of being a radical leftist.

“The so-called Bishop who spoke at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning was a Radical Left hard line Trump hater. She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way. She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart,” he said.

Footage shows the president listening to the bishop’s sermon, held Tuesday at the National Cathedral of Washington, in which she asks for compassion for the immigrants Trump wants to deport.

Budde asked Trump and Vice President James David Vance to have mercy for minorities.

“I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian and transgender children in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives,” she said.

“They… may not be citizens or have the proper documentation. But the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals. They pay taxes and are good neighbors. They are faithful members of our churches and mosques, synagogues, gurudwaras and temples,” Budde said.

This type of service has been a tradition since 1993, when the new president attends a prayer ceremony the morning after his inauguration. EFE ws-ar/lds
