City of Trenton Launches Safe Streets Safety!

The City of Trenton has established a Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Committee under the Complete and Green Streets Ordinance to lead efforts in improving road safety and multimodal travel options in Trenton.
The committee, composed of representatives from city departments, residents, elected officials, community organizations, and regional stakeholders, aims to shape policies and infrastructure improvements that create safer streets for all.
The SS4A Committee held its inaugural meeting in January and reconvened on Monday, March 24, to set priorities and develop action items. As part of its community engagement efforts, committee representatives attended the Trenton Cycling Revolution Open House on Saturday, March 22, to gather public feedback on committee priorities.
The committee will focus on updating policies, procedures, and plans that guide transportation infrastructure improvements, including pavement management, funding, planning and design, and operations and maintenance. This work aligns with county, region, and state efforts to improve road safety, including Mercer County’s Vision Zero planning and New Jersey’s new Target Zero Commission, which aims to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries on New Jersey roadways by 2040.
“This committee represents a collaborative effort to make Trenton’s streets safer for everyone—whether walking, biking, rolling or driving,” said Mayor W. Reed Gusciora. “By bringing together key stakeholders and engaging with the community, we are taking a proactive approach to reducing traffic injuries and fatalities while enhancing mobility options for all residents.”
