Paris Saint-Germain crushes Atlético Madrid 4-0
International Desk, Jun 15 (EFE).-
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) delivered a crushing 4-0 defeat to Atlético Madrid in their opening match at the new FIFA Club World Cup, while Bayern Munich broke a tournament record with a 10-0 win over Auckland City. At the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, PSG dominated from start to finish, leaving Atlético stunned. Fabián Ruiz opened the scoring in the first half, followed by a long-range strike from Vitinha.

Two late goals, one by Senny Mayuly in the 87th minute and a stoppage-time penalty from Lee Kang-in, sealed the victory.
“We knew it would be tough, but this is not the level we want to show,” said Atlético midfielder Koke after the game. “They were faster, more focused, and punished every mistake.”
PSG’s calm control and pace left little room for Atlético to recover. The Spanish side struggled to create chances and failed to respond to PSG’s constant pressure.

“They were clinical, and we weren’t,” said Atlético coach Diego Simeone. “We have to regroup fast and learn from this.”

Bayern Munich’s 10-0 win sets tournament record
Over in Cincinnati, Bayern Munich made history with the biggest-ever win in Club World Cup history, defeating Auckland City 10-0 at the QTL Stadium. Midfielder Jamal Musiala was the star of the night, scoring a hat-trick in just 16 minutes.

Goals also came from Harry Kane, Leroy Sané, Joshua Kimmich, and other Bayern players as they overwhelmed the New Zealand champions.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” Musiala said. “We played with confidence and showed what we’re capable of.”
The previous record was a 6-1 win by Saudi club Al-Hilal over Al-Jazira in 2022.
Bayern’s new record sets a high bar for the rest of the competition.
Coach Thomas Tuchel, who led Chelsea to a Club World Cup title in 2022, praised his team’s performance. “It was professional, fast, and fun to watch. This is how we want to start the tournament.”

Looking ahead in the tournament
Both PSG and Bayern have made strong statements in their first appearances under the new tournament format.
PSG proved they are title contenders with a sharp and organized win over a strong European opponent.
Bayern, meanwhile, showed depth and firepower that could make them favorites for a third Club World Cup title, having won in 2013 and 2020.

The results leave Atlético Madrid with a tough road ahead, while Auckland City’s tournament hopes are all but over.
“We have to turn the page,” said Atlético’s Koke. “There’s still a lot to fight for.”
With more matches to come, the Club World Cup is already delivering drama, goals, and early favorites. EFE int-seo
