Madrid, Sep 18 (EFE).-
Spain has climbed to the top of the FIFA world ranking for the first time in 11 years, overtaking Argentina and France.
The Spanish team, which had been second in the previous table, now leads with 1,875.37 points, followed by France (1,870.92) and Argentina (1,870.32), who drop to third after leading the ranking since April 2023.

Among the top 10, Portugal moved up to fifth, Croatia to ninth, and Italy to 10th, all taking advantage of Brazil’s slip from fifth to sixth. Germany fell out of the top 10 for the first time since October 2024, sliding to 12th after a 2-0 loss to Slovakia in their opening World Cup qualifier.
Morocco rose to 11th after eight wins in nine matches, while Slovakia recorded the biggest leap, climbing 10 places. Canada, co-host of the 2026 World Cup, reached 26th — its best position since the ranking’s creation in 1993 — alongside Kosovo, now 91st (+4).
The latest table factored in 200 international fixtures from World Cup qualifiers for the 2026 tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Spain leads its group after a 3-0 win over Bulgaria and a 6-0 thrashing of Turkey, with matches against Georgia and Bulgaria next month.
