US Sanctions “Seriously Affecting” our people!
San José, Dec 13 (EFE).-
The Nicaraguan government led by President Daniel Ortega condemned the sanctions imposed by the United States against Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela on Friday, sanctions he said were “seriously affecting” their peoples.
“We strongly condemn the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States against Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba,” said the Nicaraguan Minister of Political and International Affairs, Denis Moncada, at the XXV meeting of the ALBA-TCP held in Venezuela on Friday.

“These sanctions are not only unjust but also illegal under international law, and they are seriously affecting the people, causing suffering and limiting our ability to develop fully,” added the former Nicaraguan Foreign Affairs Minister.
In his speech, Moncada highlighted the 20th anniversary of ALBA, an alliance he described as “an important milestone in the history of our region.”

“This anniversary invites us to reflect on our achievements and to reaffirm our commitment to the values and principles that have guided us along this difficult path, with challenges and aggressions that we have overcome, achieving lasting victories,” he said.
“During these 20 years, we have worked hard to promote social justice, equity, and sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our cooperation projects have improved the lives of millions of people, from literacy to access to health and energy,” he added.
He also argued that ALBA “has been a true expression of Latin American and Caribbean unity” and that “over these 20 years we have seen how its cooperation has strengthened the economic, political, and social independence of its member countries.”
ALBA includes Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, Saint Lucia and Venezuela. EFE
