JR is hosting a Domestic Violence Resource Seminar!
Jersey City, NJ. –
Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez (D-32) is hosting a Domestic Violence Resource Seminar on October 30th to bring critical information to her constituents. The event is being hosted in partnership with WomenRising, a local resource center for survivors of domestic violence in Jersey City.
Before she was elected to office, Ramirez says that seminars like these are a service she used to provide as an attorney. “I would go out into my community and give information on how to apply for a restraining order,” she says. “I am proud to be able to do this now for my constituents as a state representative.”

Ramirez will be giving information on the legal aspects of domestic violence. Heather Sheppard, who is the Prevention, Education & Outreach Coordinator for WomenRising, will be discussing available resources such as counseling, housing, crisis intervention, and more.
“I am honored to be part of this growing movement to acknowledge, educate, and facilitate other survivors of domestic violence achieve freedom and take back their power,” says Sheppard. “Together, we rise.”
The seminar will be held at Five Corners Library in the Auditorium on October 30th at 11am. The address to Five Corners Library is 678 Newark Ave in Jersey City. Registration is not needed, but the link to the event on the library website can be found here.

While October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Assemblywoman says she plans to have more of these seminars in the future. “Domestic violence affects so many, and it does not discriminate,” says Ramirez. “It is our responsibility to shine a light on this issue, raise awareness, and provide assistance to those who need it.”
