Dr. Connie Sanchez Appointed as Superintendent of Wharton Borough Public Schools

WHARTON, NJ –

Wharton Borough Board of Education is pleased to announce the
appointment of Dr. Connie Sanchez as the district’s new Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Sanchez joins Wharton following an exceptional tenure as Executive Director of
Unity Charter School in Morristown, where she demonstrated outstanding leadership
and a commitment to educational excellence and development of the whole child.
During her time at Unity Charter School, Dr. Sanchez led the school’s remarkable
journey from a Tier III to a Tier I performing institution, while establishing numerous
innovative programs and partnerships. Under her leadership, Unity Charter School
achieved recognition as a National School of Character, earned Sustainable Jersey for
Schools Silver certification, and formed strategic partnerships with prestigious
institutions including Johns Hopkins University and Yale University.

Dr. Sanchez. “Together, we’ve created an environment where students thrive
academically while developing as environmentally conscious global citizens. The
dedication of our staff, students, and families has made our achievements possible.
Unity will forever hold a special place in my heart and I am grateful for the opportunity
they offered me and the support they provided throughout our journey together.”
Dr. Sanchez holds a doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) in K-12 Administration from Seton
Hall University, an Ed.M. in Educational Leadership, Management, and Policy from
Columbia University, an MBA in Business Administration from Texas A&M, and an
M.S. in Organizational Change Management from Saint Elizabeth University. She
completed her undergraduate studies at Saint Elizabeth University, earning a
Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies. Additionally, she holds multiple New Jersey
Department of Education certificates, including School Administrator, Principal,
School Business Administrator, and teaching certificates in Science, History, and
Business.

Dr. Sanchez’s accomplishments at Unity Charter School include expanding STEM
education, implementing a 1:1 Personalized Learning Initiative, and expanding
advanced academic classes and enrichment programs. She also oversaw facility
expansions including a new creator space and enhanced physical education facilities.

of Education, staff, students, and families to build upon Wharton’s strengths and

environment where children learn to thrive in a dynamic world”.

Dr. Sanchez brings to Wharton her extensive experience in curriculum development,
strategic planning, and fiscal management, along with her passionate commitment to
creating diverse learning opportunities that prepare students for future success.
