Lanús won the 2025 Copa Sudamericana on Saturday in Asunción after a 5-4 penalty shootout victory over Atlético Mineiro following a 0-0 draw at Defensores del Chaco Stadium.
The match had a few clear chances.

Mineiro produced the first dangerous play in the 26th minute when a free kick from Bernard hit the post. In the second half, Mineiro kept shooting from distance, while Lanús tried counterattacks through Eduardo Salvio and Marcelino Moreno.
Extra time brought more activity, with chances in both areas. “We stayed focused until the end,” Lanús coach Mauricio Pellegrino said.

Goalkeeper Nahuel Losada decided the shootout by stopping three penalties. “I trusted my instincts,” he said.
Lanús converted attempts from Izquierdoz, Marcich, Aquino, Cardozo and Watson. Mineiro missed through Hulk, Biel and Vitor Hugo.
The win gives Lanús its second Sudamericana title after its 2013 victory. EFE
