Atlético shares LaLiga lead with Barcelona
Sports Desk, Dec 15 (EFE).-
Alexander Sørloth scored the winning goal in a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Getafe in LaLiga on Sunday.
Atlético now shares LaLiga lead with Barcelona with 38 points from 17 games, it is their 11th win in a row in all competitions, ahead of Real Madrid who positions third with 37 points.
Meanwhile, a fourth-minute goal from Sergio González gave Leganés a 1-0 win over Barcelona at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, leaving the Catalan giants in no position to take over the LaLiga lead from Atlético de Madrid.
Barcelona failed to score in the first half and had no new moves in the second half, unable to respond to Sergio González’s early goal, from the center of the area to the top right corner.
At the Estadio de la Cerámica, Real Betis broke their poor LaLiga form with a crucial win over Villarreal on Sunday with a 2-1.
Brazilian Vitor Roque and Argentina’s Giovanni Lo Celso scored against an imprecise Villarreal side, who managed to score through Álex Baena but couldn’t salvage a point despite dominating the second half. EFE
