Susan Crawford wins election to Wisconsin Supreme Court!

Liberal Judge Susan Crawford won a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court after defeating Elon Musk-backed Brad Schimel on Tuesday.
“Tonight, Wisconsinites stood up and said loudly that justice does not have a price—our Courts are not for sale,” the Democrat-backed judge said on X.
Crawford won the election to a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, maintaining the liberal control of the court despite a campaign by US President Donald Trump and his right-hand man Elon Musk to sway voters.
The result is a blow to Musk, the world’s richest man, who invested millions of dollars in the race and actively campaigned on his social media platform, X, to try to topple the 4-3 liberal majority.
The Supreme Court race in Wisconsin, a swing state which Trump won in the November presidential elections, is being viewed as a referendum on the Republican’s first few months in office and Musk’s enormous influence in the White House.
Crawford, a Dane County judge, defeated conservative candidate Brad Schimel, a judge of the Waukesha County Circuit Court who received Trump’s endorsement in the final stretch of the campaign.
Musk is currently involved in a lawsuit with courts in Wisconsin over a law that prohibits car manufacturers from having their own dealerships and selling directly to customers.
The election comes as the court must decide on certain social rights, such as the right to abortion, which is legal in the state until the 20th week of pregnancy, and the rights of transgender people. EFE
