Rafael Caro Quintero and others extradited to US!
Washington, Feb 27 (EFE).-
The United States confirmed Thursday that the 29 people accused of drug trafficking who were extradited by Mexico are already in its custody, according to a statement from the country’s Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Among those extradited are Rafael Caro Quintero, head of the Guadalajara Cartel, as well as the brothers Miguel Angel and Omar Trevino Morales, leaders of Los Zetas.

Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, who led the Juarez Cartel for almost two decades, is also on the list of those extradited.
Also extradited are Erick Valencia Salazar, one of the founders of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, as well as Antonio Oseguera Cervantes, brother of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, current leader of the the cartel.
Also in US custody is Jose de Jesus Mendez Vargas, who was the leader of La Familia Michoacana.
Most of those extradited face life sentences in courts in New York, the District of Columbia, Texas, Arizona, Chicago or North Carolina.

“We will prosecute these criminals to the fullest extent of the law in honor of the brave law enforcement agents who have dedicated their careers – and in some cases, given their lives – to protect innocent people from the scourge of violent cartels,” Bondi said.
According to Washington, many of those extradited had been requested by the US for some time, but the requests had not been attended to by Mexico.

Last week, the US administration declared six Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations, a measure of pressure against Mexico.
The extradition coincided with a visit by high-ranking Mexican officials to Washington, who are negotiating with the Trump administration to stop the imposition of tariffs on Mexican products that the US plans to implement starting Mar. 4.

Trump said Thursday in the Oval Office that he is not seeing progress in the fight against drug trafficking by Mexico and Canada that would allow him to consider not imposing 25 percent tariffs against both North American neighbors next week. EFE
