A late goal from Keira Walsh narrowed France’s lead to 2-1, creating a thrilling end to the match.

Meanwhile, the Welsh women’s team lost their first major tournament match 3-0 to the Netherlands.

Miedema scored an impressive goal just before halftime, breaking through Wales’s strong defense.

Any hope of a Welsh comeback was quickly extinguished after halftime when Van de Donk found Pelova. Pelova calmly finished after a long ball over the defense bypassed Wales’s offside trap.
