Spain’s Yamal beats France!
Frankfurt, Germany, Jul 9 (EFE).-
Teenager Lamine Yamal was the star as Spain outclassed France to win the Euro 2024 semi final 2-1 in Munich on Tuesday.
The 16-year-old became the youngest player ever to score at the Euros with a stunning effort to equalize for Spain after they had conceded an early goal.
France opened the scoring after just 9 minutes when Randal Kolo Muani nodded in Kylian Mbappeās clipped cross to the back post.
Spain had started the stronger, creating chances as well as predictably dominating possession, France looked threatening on the counter attack.
Yamal, who came into the tournament on the back of a stellar debut season for Barcelona, cemented his status as one of the gameās best young talents when he equalized after 21 minutes with a breathtaking shot from 25 meters that bent around the outstretched Mike Maignan and hit the post on its way in.
And Spain took the lead moments later, with Dani Olmoās excellent control and shot finding the net via Jules KoundĆ©.
The second half was cagier than the first, with Spain happy to keep the ball or sit back as France pushed for an equalizer but struggled to find a breakthrough.
Mbappe, who endured another underwhelming game in keeping with the rest of the tournament, missed a great chance to level the score with just five minutes left, but he blazed over after cutting into the box from the left.
Spain, who have been the most impressive team at Euro 2024, reach the final in Berlin, where they will face the Netherlands or England. EFE
