Las tornas han cambiado. El Manchester City ya se siente favorito a ganar esta Premier League. La cacer\u00eda del Arsenal ha comenzado y el triunfo contra el Newcastle United, con un doblete de Nico O’Reilly, deja a los de Pep Guardiola a solo dos puntos de distancia. Ya existe el miedo en el Emirates Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Con la posibilidad de estrechar el cerco contra el Arsenal y castigar el pinchazo de los de Mikel Arteta contra el colista, el Wolverhampton Wanderers, el City no fall\u00f3. Volvi\u00f3 el equipo que huele la sangre y va a por su presa, el conjunto infalible que cuando hay un t\u00edtulo sobre la mesa se va a por \u00e9l. Campeones de seis de las \u00faltimas ocho ligas, este City quiere m\u00e1s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Y se lo dej\u00f3 claro al Newcastle, un rival siempre peligroso, desde el inicio, con una alineaci\u00f3n ofensiva, con doble punta, Erling Haaland y Omar Marmoush, pero con un goleador inesperado, el canterano O’Reilly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En un contraataque, el polivanete jugador culmin\u00f3 un pase de Marmoush, que atrajo y despist\u00f3 a los defensas para abrir los espacios para O’Reilly. Este recibi\u00f3 en la frontal y coloc\u00f3 la pelota junto al poste de Nick Pope. Un golazo con el que aumentar la presi\u00f3n sobre Arteta, que esperaba un favor del Newcastle que lleg\u00f3 de forma temporal cuando Lewis Hall fusil\u00f3 la pelota desde la frontal con la suerte de que esta se desvi\u00f3 en Ait-Nouri y le cambi\u00f3 la trayectoria a Gianluigi Donnarumma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La alegr\u00eda del Arsenal no dur\u00f3 mucho. Apenas cinco minutos despu\u00e9s, O’Reilly se destap\u00f3 en otro registro. Con movimiento de ‘nueve’ puro en el punto de penalti, gir\u00f3 el cuello para cabecear el cuero lejos de los dominios de Pope. El centro lo hab\u00eda puesto un Haaland que pese a no llevar el sello de goleador se llev\u00f3 muchos de los halagos por el pase de gol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El City volv\u00eda gobernar el partido, pero el nerviosismo les agarrot\u00f3 ahora a ellos. Al Newcastle le anularon un gol, por fuera de juego de Dan Burn, y los ‘Magpies’, adem\u00e1s, congregaron las mejores ocasiones de la segunda mitad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guardiola tir\u00f3 de pragmatismo y opt\u00f3 por no arriesgar mucho. El 2-1 valdr\u00eda lo mismo que el 3-1, mientras que un empate del Newcastle insuflar\u00eda una nueva vida al Arsenal, que esperaba desde Londres ansioso la notificaci\u00f3n del empate de los de Eddie Howe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pero no lleg\u00f3. Al Newcastle se le agot\u00f3 la gasolina, quiz\u00e1s por la repesca de la Champions League que tuvo que jugar entre semana en Azerbaiy\u00e1n, y fue el City el que pudo sentenciarlo en los instantes finales, con un mano a mano que Pope ataj\u00f3 a Haaland y un parad\u00f3n del arquero ingl\u00e9s a volea a bocajarro a Phil Foden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El propio Pope subi\u00f3 a rematar el \u00faltimo c\u00f3rner del partido, pero sin suerte. El City se qued\u00f3 los tres puntos y el Arsenal se resigna. Ya no es que haya Premier, es que el City es favorito y depende de s\u00ed mismo. Las cuentas son claras, si el City gana todo lo que le queda ser\u00e1 campe\u00f3n. Si el Arsenal sigue pinchando, ser\u00e1 a\u00fan m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil para los ‘Sky Blues’, que pueden dar un golpe sobre la mesa el pr\u00f3ximo 18 de abril cuando reciban a los ‘Gunners’ en el Etihad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Este domingo, el Arsenal visitar\u00e1 al Tottenham Hotspur con m\u00e1s presi\u00f3n que nunca. La ventaja de nueve puntos que ten\u00edan sobre el City se ha esfumado y ya es solo de dos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
