El equipo de Pep Guardiola firm\u00f3 un duelo de guante blanco con pocos sobresaltos. Apenas sufri\u00f3 quince minutos de la segunda parte, cuando ya ganaba 2-0 y el West Ham arranc\u00f3 tres claras ocasiones que quedaron en nada. El resto del choque, sobre todo el acto inicial, fue del City, con Haaland resolutivo como siempre y bien apoyado por la finura de Rayan Cherki desde el costado derecho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambos equipos aparecieron por el c\u00e9sped del Etihad Stadium sin los jugadores que participar\u00e1n en la Copa \u00c1frica -Rayan Ait Nouri y Omar Marmoush en el City, y Malick Diouf y Aaron Wan-Bissaka en el West Ham-, y, en el caso del cuadro ‘citizen’, todav\u00eda con bajas importantes (Jeremy Doku, Oscar Bobb, Mateo Kovacic, Rodri Hern\u00e1ndez y John Stones).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los objetivos de los dos equipos eran totalmente diferentes. El del City estaba claro: terminar la jornada en lo m\u00e1s alto de la Premier League; es decir, ganar y esperar un pinchazo del Arsenal en su visita al Everton. El del West Ham, romper una racha de cinco encuentros sin conocer la victoria y salir de los puestos de descenso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El objetivo de ‘Los Hammers’, por el estado de forma de ambos equipos, parec\u00eda, a priori, un milagro. El City, en este momento del curso, est\u00e1 intratable. Parece haber recuperado su identidad tras un par\u00e9ntesis de dudas y vuelve a ser un rival temible, algo que ante el West Ham dej\u00f3 claro desde el pitido inicial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Con ese gui\u00f3n, el City no tard\u00f3 ni cinco minutos en adelantarse en el marcador. Y, como no, fue Haaland el encargado de desnivelar el choque. El atacante noruego marc\u00f3 su tanto n\u00famero 18 -en 17 partidos- tras una buena asociaci\u00f3n con Phil Foden, que coloc\u00f3 en el punto de penalti el centro que remat\u00f3 su compa\u00f1ero a la red. Necesit\u00f3 dos intentos, ya que Alphonse Areola despej\u00f3 el primero, pero no pudo hacer nada en el segundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Con un gol de ventaja y con la pelota absolutamente controlada, el City jug\u00f3 a placer durante el resto del acto inicial. No encontr\u00f3 ning\u00fan tipo de oposici\u00f3n: acapar\u00f3 la posesi\u00f3n, anul\u00f3 por completo al West Ham y dio un aviso por medio de Haaland, que no acert\u00f3 en un remate de cabeza un centro desde la banda derecha de Rayan Cherki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El West Ham, totalmente noqueado, tuvo diez minutos de inspiraci\u00f3n con tres ocasiones casi consecutivas. Inici\u00f3 la serie Freddie Potts con un disparo desde el punto de penalti que repeli\u00f3 con su manopla derecha Gianluigi Donnarumma; y la contin\u00fao Jarrod Bowen con un par de intentos que no resolvi\u00f3 bien frente al portero italiano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los hombres de Nuno Esp\u00edrito Santo perdonaron y lo pagaron, porque Haaland, en un l\u00edo defensivo del West Ham, y rodeado de rebotes, sell\u00f3 el partido con su tanto n\u00famero 19, el tercero del City y el tanto que certific\u00f3 tres puntos con los que el equipo de Guardiola dio un paso firme hacia el liderato.
