esenciales para estas pr\u00f3tesis rob\u00f3ticas, que funcionan como extensiones del cuerpo&#8221;, ha dicho Herr en un encuentro con estudiantes y profesores de la Escuela Polit\u00e9cnica de Ingenier\u00eda de Gij\u00f3n, al norte de Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Herr ha regresado nueve a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s al Principado para participar en la Semana de los Premios que cada a\u00f1o organiza la Fundaci\u00f3n Princesa de Asturias con motivo de la concesi\u00f3n de estos galard\u00f3n.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a el acto, el investigador estadounidense ha se\u00f1alado que este tipo de avances, sumado a una producci\u00f3n personalizada para cada caso espec\u00edfico, permitir\u00e1n pr\u00f3tesis &#8220;asequibles&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El ingeniero y biof\u00edsico, galardonado en 2016 con el Premio Princesa de Asturias de Investigaci\u00f3n Cient\u00edfica y T\u00e9cnica por su contribuci\u00f3n a la integraci\u00f3n hombre-m\u00e1quina y a la mejora de la calidad de vida de millones de personas, ha recalcado que el desaf\u00edo del futuro es &#8220;integrar la emoci\u00f3n \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Herr perdi\u00f3 sus piernas a los 17 a\u00f1os en un accidente de monta\u00f1a y desde entonces ha centrado su vida en el desarrollo de pr\u00f3tesis controladas por microprocesadores que emulan la funcionalidad de rodillas, tobillos o p\u00edes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ante un auditorio con decenas de alumnos de Ingenier\u00eda que colmaron el sal\u00f3n de actos de la Escuela Polit\u00e9cnica, Herr ha se\u00f1alado que los conocimientos cient\u00edficos &#8220;son importantes, pero mucho m\u00e1s lo es la creatividad&#8221;, por lo que ha aconsejado esforzarse para
