James Rodriguez continued to dazzle as Colombia thrashed Panama 5-0 in the quarterfinals to equal their best ever unbeaten record and book a place in the Copa America semifinals Saturday in Glendale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rodriguez scored and gave two assists for Jhon Cordoba and Luis Diaz to rediscover the form that saw him win the Golden Boot at World Cup 2014 in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich player already has five assists in this Copa America, the most by any player, making him the favorite to claim the award for player of the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Richard Rios and Miguel Angel Borja scored the two other goals for Colombia, who, thanks to their scintillating form, matched their record of 27 matches unbeaten between 1992 and 1994.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panama’s coach Thomas Christiansen, had already told his team to be watchful of set pieces, but they couldn’t stop Rodriguez, who unleashed a near-perfect corner kick in the eighth minute for Cordoba to head the ball home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colombia soon got a penalty that Rodriguez converted to put his side in the driving seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luck was also on the side of Colombia, who saw goalkeeper Camilo Vargas save a shot miraculously after Roderick Miller\u2019s shot hit the post and nearly crossed the goal line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any hopes Panama had for a comeback were quashed by a cunning Rodriguez, who took a free kick in the center of the field and found Diaz running into space to punish a sleeping Panama defense just before the end of the first half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With victory all but assured, Colombian coach rested Diaz and Rodriguez halfway through the second half, which did not affect their game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rios took advantage of the refereeing after a foul on Daniel Munoz to score their fourth goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Borja stepped in stoppage time to convert their fifth goal from a penalty to complete the rout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
