El mexicano Sa\u00fal ‘Canelo’ \u00c1lvarez derrot\u00f3 este s\u00e1bado por decisi\u00f3n un\u00e1nime a su compatriota Jaime Mungu\u00eda para mantener sus cuatro cetros mundiales de boxeo en la divisi\u00f3n s\u00faper mediana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c1lvarez fue de menos a m\u00e1s para imponerse con tarjetas a favor por 117-110, 116-111 y 115-112.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El retador Mungu\u00eda, invicto hasta este s\u00e1bado, sali\u00f3 a negar los momios que lo anunciaban como posible v\u00edctima y en los tres primeros asaltos impuso condiciones con su ‘jab’ de zurda, que aterriz\u00f3 en la anatom\u00eda del ‘Canelo’ con un promedio de ocho por cada asalto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c1lvarez comenz\u00f3 con la guardia cerrada, pero a partir de la segunda vuelta comenz\u00f3 a castigar a los brazos de Mungu\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El punto de quiebre del pleito fue el cuarto ’round’. Mungu\u00eda insisti\u00f3 en llevar la iniciativa. En su af\u00e1n de agredir, descuid\u00f3 la defensa y fue derribado por un ‘upper’ de derecha del campe\u00f3n defensor, que envi\u00f3 a la lona a su rival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A partir de ah\u00ed, ‘Canelo’ mostr\u00f3 su mejor versi\u00f3n, con variadas combinaciones ante un oponente que baj\u00f3 el ritmo, y disminuy\u00f3 la potencia de sus ataques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mungu\u00eda resurgi\u00f3 en el octavo asalto, combin\u00f3 mejor, escap\u00f3 con certeros movimientos de cintura y hizo fallar al ‘Canelo’, que emparej\u00f3 las acciones en el noveno, parejo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aunque recibi\u00f3 dos derechas en el rostro, Mungu\u00eda volvi\u00f3 a proponer, a pegar m\u00e1s en el d\u00e9cimo asalto. ‘Canelo’, con ventaja en las tarjetas apost\u00f3 m\u00e1s a la calidad que a la cantidad de sus golpes y se encamin\u00f3 a la victoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despu\u00e9s de 10 ’rounds’ de desgaste, los dos rivales dieron muestra de una gran preparaci\u00f3n; en el und\u00e9cimo Mungu\u00eda hizo impactos con las combinaciones y no desenton\u00f3 ante el favorito.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Canelo’ esper\u00f3 de pie el asalto final y sali\u00f3 a noquear en el duod\u00e9cimo asalto. No lo logr\u00f3, pero conect\u00f3 buenos impactos ante un Mungu\u00eda que, aunque derrotado, no desenton\u00f3 y por momentos puso en apuros al campe\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c1lvarez lleg\u00f3 a 61 victorias, 39 antes del l\u00edmite, con dos empates y dos derrotas, en tanto Mungu\u00eda perdi\u00f3 el invicto luego de 43 triunfos, 34 por noc\u00e1ut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Esper\u00e9 mi momento; Mungu\u00eda es un gran boxeador, fuerte, aunque un poco lento y pude pegar a la contra. Ahora estoy en posici\u00f3n de hacer lo que quiera y pedir lo que quiera”, dijo \u00c1lvarez, al referirse a la posibilidad de enfrentar a David Benavides, quien ha pedido que se respete su condici\u00f3n de retador mandatorio del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo, pero ha sido ignorado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
