Khartoum, (EFE). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sudanese Army Tuesday claimed to have wrested control of the headquarters of the public radio and TV headquarters from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The building that headquartered the national broadcaster lies in Omdurman, across the Nile from Khartoum and part of Sudan\u2019s wider capital. It has been in dispute since the outbreak of the war 11 months ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The armed forces, alongside other regular forces and local personnel, successfully ousted the terrorist militia led by Dagalo (RSF leader) and foreign mercenaries from the Radio and Television Corporation headquarters,” the army said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n

This marks one of the most significant breakthroughs by military units against the paramilitary force, who have retained control over certain areas of Um Durman and the capital, Khartoum, since the conflict erupted on April 15 last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The army declared that victory is “imminent” and that those wounded and imprisoned by the paramilitaries will soon be liberated from their captivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The army released two videos to to authenticate the claims. The clips showed two fighters inside the broadcaster\u2019s headquarters, clearly identifiable by Arabic and English signage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They take hold of a microphone to confirm their presence within the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of now, there has been no response from the paramilitaries regarding this information.<\/p>\n\n\n

The headquarters of the Sudanese Public Radio and Television Corporation has been a crucial focal point since the onset of the conflict, alongside the Presidential Palace and Khartoum International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
