Black History Met Gala in New York!
New York City, May 5 (EFE).-
Stars celebrated Black history, culture and style on Monday with extravagant tailoring at the Met Gala in New York, but avoided entering into politics at a heated moment for the United States.

The theme for this year’s gala was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which was decided ahead of President Donald Trump’s election.
Vogue editor-in-chief and main organizer Anna Wintour told reporters that the fashion exhibition, which this exclusive event is raising funds for and which focuses on Black dandyism, had been years in the making. She also highlighted that it sent a message of support to the Black community.
Many of the guests climbed the steps toward the Metropolitan Museum of Art, stopping only to be photographed and nodding to journalists stationed on either side of the blue carpet dotted with daffodils.

Actor Colman Domingo paid tribute to former Vogue editor André Leon Talley with two different outfits — a royal blue Valentino cloak that was removed to reveal a tailored patterned suit and flower brooch.
Filmmaker Spike Lee wore a black suit, trademark orange glasses and an orange New York Knicks hat, while others offered some surprises: Nicole Kidman debuted a two-tone pixie haircut, Demi Moore dressed as a black pinstriped tie, singer André 3000 hauled piano replica on his back, actor Damson Idris arrived in a sparkling helmet and F1 racing suit, which was ripped off to reveal a burgundy suit, while Rihanna, wearing a suit-inspired Marc Jacobs dress and hat, arrived last and revealed her third pregnancy with A$AP Rocky.

The queen of pop, Madonna, wore a satiny white Tom Ford suit with lace gloves and a cigar as an accessory, while her “heiresses” also graced the blue carpet — Chappell Roan in a hot pink flared sparkly patchwork suit, Dua Lipa in a black Chanel gown and gloves, and Sabrina Carpenter in a burgundy Louis Vuitton pin-striped tailcoat, bodysuit and platforms.
Carpenter wasn’t the only one to draw attention for wearing little on the lower half. Singer Doja Cat wore a black pinstripe/ocelot print Marc Jacobs blazer-bodysuit with stockings, Thai K-pop star Lisa wore a sparkly blazer with bodysuit and LV stockings, and Helen Lasichanh, wife of Pharrell Williams, also wore a LV leather blazer and matching bodysuit with stockings.

Finally, the legendary Diana Ross, spectacular in a sparkling white dress with a feathered wide-brim hat, an 18-foot feathered cape and an extravagant train, was accompanied by her children, musician Evan and actress Tracee.
As in recent years, there was strong Hispanic representation, including music stars Bad Bunny, Rosalía, Maluma, J Balvin, and Shakira. EFE nqs-tw
