London, Jan 17 (EFE).-

Manchester City has extended the contract of 24-year old striker Erling Haaland until 2034, the club said in a statement on Friday.

The Norwegian player’s previous contract was set to expire in June 2027.

“Erling Haaland has signed a new 10-year Manchester City contract, keeping him at the Club until the summer of 2034,” the club said.

Manchester City also posted the news on social media platform X with several videos related to his signing of the contract, and lauding his contribution to the club.

After his arrival at the Etihad from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, the Norwegian international created an immediate impact for the club, scoring 52 goals in his first season, and becoming one of the major reasons for City’s march to a historic Treble of Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.

Over the two and a half seasons he has been at City, he has scored 111 goals in only 125 games across competitions.

“Manchester City is a special club, full of fantastic people with amazing supporters and it’s the type of environment that helps bring the best out of everybody,” said Haaland.

“I also want to thank Pep [Guardiola], his coaching staff, my team-mates and everyone at the club as they have all helped me so much in the past couple of years. They have made this such a special place to be and now I am City no matter what,” he added. EFE
