‘Diddy’ Combs arrested in NYC!
Washington, Sep 16 (EFE).-
Rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was arrested in New York City on Monday, according to a court attorney.
“Earlier this evening, federal agents arrested Sean Combs, based on a sealed indictment filed by the SDNY,” US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams said in a statement on X.
“We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time.”
A federal grand jury in Manhattan indicted Combs, prompting his arrest, ABC News reported. However, the charges remain sealed.
Combs’ lawyer Marc Agnifilo issued a statement in which he said he was “disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr Combs.”
“He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges,” Agnifilo said.
In March, authorities executed search warrants at his properties in Los Angeles and Miami, reportedly as part of an investigation into sex trafficking.
In May, US media published leaked security camera footage of him assaulting his ex-girlfriend and R&B singer Cassie Ventura during a 2016 altercation in a hotel. Combs said then that “I was disgusted when I did it” and “I’m disgusted now.”
In November, Combs and Ventura reached a settlement a day after Ventura launched a suit against him alleging years of abuse, including beatings and rape.
Combs has been hit with 10 lawsuits since November, nine directly accusing him of sexual assault, all of which he has denied, CNN reported.
The 54-year-old rapper, formerly known as Puff Daddy, is one of the biggest names in the history of hip-hop and has had hits such as “I’ll Be Missing You,” “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down,” and “Been Around the World.” EFE
