2025 Mayor Ras J. Baraka Latin Women Empowerment!
Symphony Hall, Newark, New Jersey.-By Oscar Alberto Quintana

Fiery like the preacher she is on the podium, one Newark councilwoman, Louise Scott-Rountree, delivered the opening event’s religious invocation, blessing all those present there and elsewhere! And finally closing her prayer, she asked an Amen from the mostly young audience. Newark’s Mayor Ras J. Baraka and Deputy Mayor Jacqueline Mercado-Quiles and the other organizers of the 2025 Latina Women’s Empowerment brunch had assembled students from several Newark High schools.

On stage were all powerfull women honorees, such as Popular Bank executive and ex-Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz; NPD Lieutenant Gloria M. Caballero; TV Pix11 personality Monica Morales; Attorney Karla Y. García; Robert Treat Academy teacher Tiana Marie; Univision’s Esperanza Cevallos and Firefighter Aida Villalongo-Cobbs.

At the end of the ceremony we ran into Ecuadorian FM 93.1 radio personality, better known as Gloria B., who kindly posed for our Americano Newspaper camera.
