Brazilian star Neymar has bid farewell to Al-Hilal, thanking the Saudi club and its fans while hinting at a potential return to his boyhood club, Santos, after an injury-plagued stint in the Middle East.
Brazilian forward Neymar bid farewell to Saudi club Al-Hilal on Tuesday with a heartfelt message on social media, expressing gratitude to the team and its fans while acknowledging that he had hoped for “better moments” on the field.

“To everyone at Al-Hilal, to the fans, thank you! I gave my all to play, and I wish we could have enjoyed better moments together on the field,” said the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star.
Al-Hilal announced on Monday the termination of Neymar’s contract, thanking the Brazilian number 10 in a Portuguese message and wishing him “good luck.”

Neymar joined the Saudi club in August 2023 but was limited to just seven appearances due to a serious knee injury and recurring muscle issues. His departure was accelerated after Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus excluded him from plans for the Saudi League championship.
The termination comes amid widespread speculation in the Brazilian press that Neymar will return to Santos, the club where he began his career before moving to Europe.
In his farewell message, Neymar expressed gratitude to the Saudi Arabian Government for providing him and his family with “a new home and new experiences.”

“Now I know the true Saudi Arabia, and I have friends for life. I have always felt your love and passion for football. I will follow your journey as a club and as a country until 2034,” he said, referencing the year Saudi Arabia will host the men’s World Cup.
“Your future will be amazing; special things are happening. And I will always support you.”
According to Ge, a portal under the Globo group, Santos—which will return to Brazil’s First Division this year—is preparing a grand celebration to welcome back its “prodigal son.” The move is expected to be officially announced in the coming days. EFE cms-sk
